Movie Review : Mr 7
Rating : 1.75 / 5
Banner : SVR Media Corp
Cast : Jr SVR, Neelam Upadhyay, Satyadev, Srinivasa Reddy, Sravan, Prithvi, MS Narayana, AVS, Gundu Hanumantha Rao, Anand, Mahesh Jayi, Rachana Maurya (item song) and Others
Music : Munna Kasi
Cinematographer : Prabhakar Reddy
Producer: SVLS Ranga Rao
Director: Charan Reddy
Story: A routine tale, the story begins with Lakshman (jr svr) who is a car thief and he also has an assistant in the form of his childhood friend Anjaneyulu (srinivasa reddy). Lakshman comes across Nakshatra (neelam) and falls in love with her. She also responds but Lakshman lies to her and her father that he owns a restaurant. But to open the restaurant, Lakshman needs a good chunk of money so he wants to make one last steal. Meanwhile, a notorious criminal Nayak (satyadev) comes to the city for robbing a bank and he creates a team. The bank loot happens successfully. A situation happens which crosses Lakshman’s path with Nayak. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.
Presentation: The director has come up with an okay storyline and while the presentation was dull, the narrative was just okay. The dialogues were stale, the script was alright but the screenplay was weak. Background score was good and gave some energy while songs are also well composed. Cinematography was adequate. Editing could have been sharp. Costumes were not that great while the art department was moderate. Jr SVR shows good interest in his act but there is a lot of changes required in terms of his personality, expressions if he wants to grow as an actor. Neelam Upadhyay didn’t have much to offer but she is decent looking. Srinivasa Reddy was funny as usual. Sathyadev did his bit as required. Sravan made his presence felt. The rest of the support came from Prithvi, M S Narayana, AVS and others.
Conclusion: This is the debut attempt of Jr SVR, grandson of the iconic actor SVR. Though no matching can be done between grandfather and grandson, the film was not a major torture. While the first half tries to go with the elements of romance, songs and some comedy, the second half has some action episode. Overall, this is a film which has amateur handling and lack of effective execution of the script. At the box office, this doesn’t have much chance to survive for more than a week.
IdleStars verdict: Can be ignored
