Story:-

The story of the film is set in the ancient Kakatiya dynasty of Orugallu. The majestic kingdom is ruled by Raja Ganapati Devudu(Krishnam Raju) who does not have any male successors. As time passes by, Ganapathi Devudu’s wife gives birth to a baby girl Rudrama Devi(Anushka).

Fearing that his long time enemies from the Devagiri dynasty would attack him after knowing that he has no male successors, the king decides to announce Rudrama Devi as prince Rudra Devudu to his empire.

Rudrama Devi grows up like a warrior and keeps her identity under wraps. Twist in the tale arises when the entire Kakatiya dynasty comes to know that the young prince is actually a girl.

What will Rudra Devudu do now ? Will he declare himself as the royal Rudrama Devi and fight the enemies ? and where does Gona Ganna Reddy(Allu Arjun) and Chalukya (Rana) feature in all this set up. To know answers to all these questions, you need to watch the film on the big screen.

Positives :-

One of the striking points is the scale of the film. The huge budget spent is clearly visible in the form of huge sets and VFX work. Allu Arjun is undoubtedly the major highlight of the film. Gunasekhar has designed his character supremely well and Bunny does an awesome job with his diction and rugged look. The way stylish star has infused a comedy touch into his character is remarkable.

Anushka looks regal as queen Rudrama Devi and does her job with a lot of dedication. She has worked very hard for the war sequences and looks extremely glamorous in the songs. Rana plays his part well and ably supports Anushka in her endeavors. Prakash Raj and Krishnam Raju suit their roles aptly. After a long gap, Suman gets an important role as a baddie and performs extremely well.

First half of the film is pretty decent and showcases the growth of Rudrama Devi as the prince. Certain visuals and the way Allu Arjun’s character has been introduced is superb. There are many grand visuals in the film which have been handled well with VFX work.

Negatives:-

One of the major drawbacks is the drag in narration. After setting up the first half in a decent way, Gunsekhar let’s the film down with some mediocre direction. He takes a lot of time to establish Rudrama Devi as the queen and does not elevate her character much. There are way too many characters which come and go into the proceedings.

Also, the way certain characters have been introduced lacks the desired effect. Stars like Nithya Menen and Catherine Tresa have been completely wasted in their roles. Second half of the film has a lot of lags and takes for ever to reach the climax. Gunasekhar also fails to generate the necessary emotions from crucial characters.

Songs in the second half only delay the film’s proceedings. Screenplay is below par during the second part as many scenes take their own time to unveil.

Talented director ​Maruthi, ​has joined hands with the charismatic Nani for a romantic entertainer titled Bhale Bhale Magadivoy. Also starring Lavanya Tripathi as the female lead, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:-

Lucky (Nani) is a happy go lucky guy who suffers from mild memory loss. Because of this problem, Lucky ends up loosing a well to do marriage proposal. As time passes by, he spots Nandana(Lavanya) and falls in love with her. Lucky starts wooing her and every time he gets into trouble because of his memory loss, he lies to Nandana and escapes the situation.

Twist in the tale arises when Lucky meets Nandana’s dad who happens to be the same person who approached him for his daughter’s match. What will Lucky do now ? How will he manage both Nandana and her dad ? That forms the rest of the story.

Positives:-

Right from the first frame, it is Nani’s histrionics which holds the film together. Once again, Nani proves what a powerhouse of talent he is and excels in his role. Films like these are Nani’s territory and he should more often do such entertainers. Nani makes you empathize with his character and also evokes superb comedy at the same time. With BBM, Nani’s stardom is set to take a ‘U’ turn and push him to the top league of actors.

Credit should also go to Maruthi for etching out a clean entertainer. The creative director never fails to surprise and entertains you till the last five minutes. The surprise package of the film is Murali Sharma who is generally associated with negative roles. He does a marvelous job as Lavayna’s father and all his scenes with Nani are etched out well.

There is a huge doses of comedy and all the various episodes featuring Vennela Kishore and Srinivas Reddy have been executed superbly. The romance that is showcased between the lead pair has also come out well. Lavanya Tripathi looks adorable and is superb as Nandana. Her chemistry with Nani is endearing and brings a feel good effect to the film.

Negatives:-

Climax is a let down as Maruthi chooses a very cleashed and ordinary ending. He could have ended the film on a simple note but chooses the typical commercial path and adds unnecessary fights and silly thrills. Ajay’s character looks forced and goes over the top many a times.

The conflict point of the film is hurried on during the pre-climax. Certain logics regarding the memory loss concept have been overlooked in the film. The title song of the film could have been totally removed to make the film crisp.

Sukumarudu Movie Review

Story:

 

The story of this film is similar to the recently released “Greeku Veerudu ‘. A NRI egoist who cares for his family in India, suddenly coming out and seek their blessings once the property enters the equation.

Sukumar (Aadi) is a young-minded and extremely selfish money you have much success in life. However, he needs some urgent cash to kickstart your dream project. Precisely at this point, you come to know that an estate valued 150Crores awaits you in your village.

He decides to travel to the village and meet his grandmother Vandanamma (Sharada), an old woman a little cranky that is revered by the locals. Sukumar tries to emotionally blackmail her for the property.

But his plans are still frustrated by the story, his uncle Ramesh Rao and others. A romantic track Sankari (Nisha Aggarwal) also comes in during this time.

Sukumar will succeed in their plans or their evil plans are detected by the villagers? That forms the story.

 

Highlights:

 

Superstar Krishna Garu has an orderly and dignified presence, if only for a few minutes. Veteran actress Sharada has done a good job.

Rao Ramesh has done everything possible to make things interesting. Aadi is good dances and great fights, but needs to improve really fast in portraying emotions.

 

Drawbacks:

 

 Screenplay of this movie is terrible. There is a logical sequence in the process and the whole film has a very uneven feel to it. The director has tried to address various themes of the film – father and son, the feeling, the feeling grandma and grandson, an NRI smart to reform his people back, etc. The problem is that none of the issues have been adequately addressed.

There are huge gaps in the plot and many sequences have absolutely no logic. There are excessive and unnecessary melodrama about the action in the emotional scenes.

The movie is too long. A few minutes less than three hours, the duration becomes unbearable when practically no story to tell.

The tracks do not work as comedy writing is stereotypical and very poor. Despite the presence of so many talented comedic actors, strong irritants viewers end sequences.

The romantic track between Aadi and Nisha Aggarwal is very superficial and incomplete. Their chemistry on screen is not very good.

The placement of the songs is very poor and act as the main speed switches.

Story:
A regular tale, the story begins with Jai (Prabhas) who believes in love all and he lives in Italy for studies. There he meets Manasa (richa) who also comes for her studies and they connect. But Manasa decides to keep away from Jai because her family is from Palnadu and they are faction ridden with enemies and bloodshed. At that moment, Jai returns to India and with some plan he comes to the household of Manasa. What is that plan? Is Jai successful in that? All this forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a very routine storyline and while the presentation was rich, the narrative was good in parts.  The dialogues were not that strong. The script was average and the screenplay was decent. The background score was very good and three songs were worth listening. Cinematography was appealing.  Editing should have been sharp especially during the first half. Costumes were stylish and trendy while the art department was real and apt. Prabhas stole the show throughout and he carried his role with conviction. Anushka looks awesome as ever and she was hot. Richa was there to fill the screen and didn’t have much in terms of acting or the situation. Sathyaraj was elegant, Nagineedu was natural, Brahmanandam was funny, Subbaraju was standard, Sampath was impressive, Nadhiya was sensuous, Aditya Menon was good. Sathyam Rajesh made his presence felt. The others didn’t have much to offer.

Conclusion:
Given the fact that this is a Prabhas starrer the expectations are bound to be high but it is better that one doesn’t watch it like that. The film is a routine treat with regular elements. The first half goes with the tracks of songs, action, some comedy and romance. The interval bang changes the momentum. The actual story begins in the second half and that’s where the plot is strengthened. Overall, this is a film which has been made strictly by the formula. At the box office, this will have good openings but it may not be a bumper success or blockbuster.

Bharatstudent verdict: Routine entertainer with average feel, just okay

Story:
An energetic tale the story begins with Vishnu (Prabhu Deva) who is passionate towards dance and that is his life. However, he is thrown out of his academy after bringing it to a good range due to the corrupt plan by his partner (kay kay menon). Just when Vishnu gives up all hope on life and decides to leave Mumbai he comes across a group of talented youngsters (Salman, Lauren, Prince, Dharmesh and others) who are practicing for a competition during the Ganesh utsav because that’s where the best of Mumbai’s dance groups come. Vishnu takes it as a challenge to prove a point and gets this team under him. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a completely different subject and while the presentation was nice, the narrative was good in parts.  The dialogues were normal. The script was predictable but the screenplay was effective. The background score was the main strength and two songs were good to watch and hear. Cinematography was top notch.  Editing was required during first half. Costumes were youthful and stylish while the art department was excellent. Prabhu Deva gave a magical performance with his moves and emotional expressions. Kay Kay Menon was superb. Salman Yusuf was alright, Lauren could have been better, Dharmesh was alright, Prince was neat. Others did their bit as required.

Conclusion: This is indeed a new attempt because the total genre revolves around dance and that too in a 3D format. It also brings back Prabhu Deva in front of the camera after a long time. The first half goes about with the layering of the plot and elements of drama and emotion. But the second half gets into full energy with some exceptional dance sequences. Overall, this is a film which suits the youngsters and those with interest on dance. At the box office, this would reach a safe zone. Thomas (Gautham) is a reckless boy who has no discipline and the reason for that is his childhood filled with troubles. There is Berchmans (Arjun) who is a notorious guy and he has a past issue with Sam. With his plan, he gets Sam into an issue and puts him in jail. Meanwhile, Thomas comes across Priya (Thulasi) and starts liking her but Sam’s absence again stir his instincts and he joins Berchmans gang. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a very different storyline and while the presentation was grand, the narrative was a letdown.  The dialogues were alright. The script was weak and the screenplay was adequate. The background score was not that great and only two songs were worth listening.  Cinematography was top notch.  Editing should have been crisp. Costumes were suiting the moods while the art department was royal. Gautham Karthik did a good job given his debut and he was neat. Thulasi Nair is weak in looks but good in expressions. Arvind Swamy looks handsome as ever and he was impressive. Arjun was the best among the lot and portrayed the negative shades in a good way. Lakshmi Manchu made her presence felt. The others didn’t have much to offer.

Conclusion:
The film is made by Mani Ratnam and it also has the son of Navarasa Nayagan Karthik and the beautiful Radha so the expectations are high. The first half goes about with the layering of the characters and how they relate to each other and the interval bang was not that great. The second half shifts track and focuses on the romance angle with a slightly weak emotional impact. Overall, the film had something to look for but it was not really having that special signature style of Mani in it. At the box office, it would be a difficult one to get success.

Bharatstudent verdict: Cannot be called as one of Mani Ratnam’s best

But as years pass by, responsibilities of life become Varun’s priority and the financial status between him and Nithya also gets into his mind. This leads to a breakup between both. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation: The director has come up with a heart touching storyline and while the presentation was rich enough, the narrative was alright in parts.  The dialogues were not that strong, the script was average but the screenplay was good. The background score was a major drawback and songs were not all that good.  Cinematography was excellent. Editing was required during the first half. Costumes were apt and natural while the art department was appealing. Nani has carried out his role with good conviction and he delivers. Samantha steals the limelight with her presence and cute expressions. Krishnudu got the brownie points for his humor. Anupama Kumar was apt, Ravi was good. Others didn’t have anything to do.

Conclusion: The film has come in as a bilingual with the Tamil version being essayed by Jiiva in the place of Nani. The film takes off on a rather slow note and it takes some time to get into the mood. The interval scene was quite lengthy and had few technical hiccups. But the second half gets into some movement and builds the required emotion. As always, the climax was the best part in the entire film. Overall, this is a film which will appeal to those who are in love and who have loved. At the box office, it could be an average to below average grosser. Idlestars verdict: Slow and steady, can be watched once

Story: A stale tale, the story begins with Rishi (prabhas) who comes to Hyderabad with a mission. He wants to meet one Stephen Robert who is a dangerous don and a noted killer. On enquiring, Rishi gets to know no one has seen Stephen so far and only one girl can help him. She is Nandini (tamanna), daughter of Stephen’s close associate. Rishi manages to befriend Nandini and she also falls in love with him. But Rishi has a past that she doesn’t know and that is why he wants Stephen Roberts badly. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation: The director has come up with a very ordinary storyline and while the presentation was rich, the narrative was weak.  The dialogues were pale, the script was not tight and the screenplay was flimsy. Background score was good but songs were bad. Cinematography was efficient. Editing was disappointing. Costumes were trendy and stylish while the art department was effective. Prabhas carried out his role with elan and he does his best to shoulder the film. Tamanna looks more sexy and glamorous than beautiful. Deeksha Seth was good and she made her presence felt though her role was brief. Mukesh Rishi was effective but his potential was not used. Krishnamraju disappoints. Pradeep Rawat was usual. Brahmanandam and Kovai Sarala were amateur. Ali brought few smiles. Supreeth came as a surprise. The others had no scope.

Conclusion: The film came in with a lot of hype and the reason for that is, Prabhas is coming after a long gap and the hype was high about the action sequences and fights. While the first half goes in a dull manner with elements of romance, some action and songs, the interval bang was very good. But the second half dips and gets into the sentiment and melodrama mode. The length of the film was a major setback. At the box office, the film will have good openings and it could appeal to the B, C center audience to an extent but given its budget getting a hit mark is very difficult.

Bharatstudent verdict: Nowhere near the hype, just watch it for Prabhas

Story

A newly wed couple Mohini (Poorna) and Harsha (Harshavardhan Rane) settles in a house named Classic Homes. Right from then strange experiences and happenings take place in the house like a spirit stalking Mohini, and it wants to consummate a relationship. Meanwhile, Vicky, neighbors kid who can see and speak to the souls despite none believing him claims that the Captain Rao spirit is in Mohini’s house. How will Mohini be saved? Who is Captain Rao? Forms the crux of the story.

Performances

Poorna is the real asset of the film and she carried the entire film on her shoulders. Her expressions are outstanding in the movie.

Harshvardhan Rane is refreshing and has done justice to the role and Gayatri is convincing. Ravi Babu played crucial role to the story and he is impressive. Chalapathi Rao and Rajeshwari are okay. Rest of the cast did their bit required.

Technical Analysis

Technically Avunu stands out. Despite no songs, the background score scored by Sekhar Chandra is terrific enhancing the horror scenes creating the needed impact. Cinematography is amazing and the lighting effects need a mention and Ravi Babu’s direction speaks volumes on his creativity considering the fact that story revolves around two to three characters. The screenplay is refreshing and engaging. Dialogues are okay and editing is perfect. The run time of Avunu is definitely a plus for the movie.

Analysis

Director Ravi Babu yet again strikes with this medium budget suspense thriller Avunu. Most part of Avunu was shot in a house but the cinematography and the use of Static camera was amazing. The appreciable thing is there weren’t any songs which would have hindered the pace of the movie. The screenplay is engrossing and narration is at a rapid pace also maintaining the suspense elements. The twist in the second half is justifying while the climax is slightly predictable. Background score is an asset for the film adding the fear factor that keeps to glued to the screens. The story of Avunu is wafer thin and the engrossing screenplay has saved it. The climax could have been a bit convincing though. Nevertheless, Avunu is definitely a good watch for the horror/thriller film lovers while the entertainment movies seekers can skip it

Final Verdict

Avunu is definitely a worth watch for horror/thriller movie lovers.

Story

The story takes off showing the conjoined twins Charu and Latha who used to live in Vizag like one body and one soul until Ravi (Skanda) entered their lives. Ravi falls for Charu and this creates the differences between the two and finally their mother (Saranya) plans to separate their attached body through an operation and during this one among them(Latha) dies. However, the mystery begins when the dead twin seeks revenge on the other. Here come a couple of twists in the story unfolding the suspense elements.

Performance:

Priyamani’s performance as a Siamese twin is the highlight of the movie Charulatha, especially for the first time she has played a negative role. Priyamani as Charu and Latha, showed her best performance till date and has carried the film on her shoulders.

Debutant Skanda has done his part well, but is overlooked as Priyamani steals the show. Saranya Ponvanan and Seetha had done justice to their short roles while Ravi Shankar is brief.

Technical Analysis:

Debutant Ponkumaran has tried his best in remaking Thai horror ‘Alone’, with slight change in the script to get Indian nativity. Ponkumaran also gets the credit of making first Indian cinema on Siamese twin [conjoined twins] and grabbed out the best performance from Priyamani.

Cinematography by Panner Selvam is excellent and is one of the assets of Chaulatha, who has perfectly shot the conjoined portions of Priyamani which looked quite well. Music director Sundar C Babu has composed the music tunes that are not up to the mark, while the background scores are good.

Dwarkish Pictures have done a good attempt by buying the remake rights of ‘Alone’ and remaking it with Priyamani lavishly.

Analysis:

Till date we have many movies on twins and double roles, but Charulatha records the first movie on Conjoined twins in India. Directed by Ponkumaran, Charulatha has the award winning performance given by National award winning actress Priyamani.

Director Ponkumaran has come up with right blend of comedy, emotions and suspense in the first half with slow paced narration. Charulatha turns engaging only from the pre-interval scene but the execution could have been much thrilling with interesting elements. The climax has been abruptly ended.

On the other hand relationship between the sisters and sentiment scenes are heart touching and a couple of scenes like the ghost of Latha threatening Charu by hanging herself to the ceiling fan and the scene where Charu was shocked when the ghost tries to kill her while bathing are applaudable.

All in all Priyamani steals the show and it could have done wonders if packed with the fast paced and engrossing screenplay.

Final Verdict:

Charulatha is a decent attempt by makers. Priyamani excelled the show in the roles of Charu and Latha!!
