After pre-production and other preparations that went on for a couple of months, 'Raanjhana' is now all set to go on floors. While writer-director Aanand L Rai has roped in Dhanush (of 'Kolaveri Di' fame) as his central protagonist, announcement around the leading lady is on the anvil as well. Also, though after the success of 'Tanu Weds Manu' there was temptation (as well as pressure) on Aanand to rope in a much more 'saleable' name, the director surprised all by instead opting for South import Dhanush.
"I don't quite understand one thing. When we have no qualms picking up films from down South for remaking them in Bollywood, why not do the same with heroes as well," questions Aanand who has a history with South Indians, what with Madhavan (Tanu Weds Manu) and Kay Kay Menon (Strangers) featuring in his films earlier on.
"We have so many girls from down South stepping into Hindi films but we filmmakers seem to get cold feet when it comes to heroes. Maybe 'Raanjhana' would be a step in the right direction to break the myth that actors from South aren't successful in Hindi films. I have seen Dhanush's work down South and I can tell you, this boy will take Bollywood by storm once audience sees the emotional side of him," promises Aanand.
Meanwhile Aanand has definite plans to bring on 'Tanu Weds Manu' sequel. Though there has been contrasting information floating around the possibility of the sequel as well as its eventual starcast, Aanand lays all doubts to rest.
"First things first, 'Tanu Weds Manu' sequel will most definitely get made. Secondly, it would be with Madhavan and Kangna. I don't see anyone stepping into their shoes," declares Aanand before signing off.
